Klay scrimmaged with Warriors starters for the first time in two years
The greatest backcourt of all time was spotted getting shots up together in Denver. The footage, per the Warriors official social accounts, came the day of the Nuggets game which was abruptly canceled due to Denver’s lack of available players. Golden State took advantage of the extra day and had what appeared to be an extra practice day and open shootaround.
Klay is nearing a return in January, so it makes sense for him to be ramping up production and traveling with the team. But fans couldn’t contain their excitement as the clip of the two was shared on all the major sports social media outlets. In the twenty-two seconds of pure buckets, neither of the Splash Brothers missed a shot. Which is expected, but according to Bleacher Report, this is Klay’s first time scrimmaging with the starters since 2019.

This may be a surprise to some, but Klay has spent most of his time rehabbing and if he did practice it would be after the team scrimmages in the Warriors practice facility. Or in Santa Cruz with the team’s G-League team. All of this was a culmination up until this point, where he finally got to scrimmage with starter-caliber players and players that he’s won championships with and made history with. Guys like fellow long-time backcourt mate, Stephen Curry.
Steve Kerr commented on his progress after the unexpected practice saying, “Klay will start when he comes back. I’m not gonna mess around, bring him off the bench or anything like that.” Steve must be anxious to see him play just like the rest of the Warriors fans. All jokes aside though, he will most likely start but have minute restrictions so that he can get back to game speed.
Who would've thought that the postponement of the Warriors game would lead to something good. The latest terrific update on Klay Thompson’s return and a step in the right direction for him to finally get back to doing what he loves.
