Draymond Wins Michigan State-Davidson Bet with Steph
March Madness is upon us, and so is the yearly tradition of NBA players betting other NBA players that their former college teams are going to beat the other’s former college team. The Warriors are no exception, especially since the first round this year included Draymond Green’s Michigan State Spartans versus Steph Curry’s Davidson Wildcats.
The game was exciting down to the wire, with Davidson building up a solid lead before Michigan State locked them up and took over down the stretch. The game ended 74-73 after Davidson hit shot after to shot and didn’t let the Spartans shut them down as easily as they had earlier in the night.
The bet initially included money to the winner, and ended up with Steph owing Dray a watch. He also will have to wear either a Michigan State Spartan mascot costume, Draymond Green’s MSU jersey, or Dray’s Final Four jersey when pulling up to a Warriors game before the season ends. Green took to Instagram after MSU won, posting this one his story:
This bet also inspired some trash-talk via socials before yesterday’s matchup, with Steph also posting a video to Instagram to let Dray know his Wildcats were going to win, even though they didn’t in the end:
The camaraderie between two of the Warriors’ Big 3 was on full display, showing a different side than the on-court attitudes of the stars. March Madness has a tendency to get some good reactions and funny clips out of NBA guys who either bet on the games or are rooting for their former teams. It’s a fun yearly tradition, and nice to see that it’ll still be around for awhile.
