Curry Gifts Fellow Warriors "Big 4" with Rolexes, KD Wants In
There’s something to be said for lifelong friendships, especially when those life long friendships get you some nice watches along with them. That’s one of the benefits, I suppose, of being some of Stephen Curry’s staunchest supporters.
After his record-breaking night and the team win over the New York Knicks (because there was a basketball game after, contrary to popular belief), Steph Curry made sure teammates Andre Iguodala and Draymond Green had a good night too by gifting them custom, engraved Rolex watches. Curry also got one for fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson, unfortunately not in attendance that night.
Green, Iguodala and Thompson have all been there since the initial Warriors championship run, with all of them placing in the top 4 of teammates who have assisted on Steph Curry threes. #3 on that list, however, is no longer in Golden State, and he seemed to want in on the action as well.
Brooklyn Nets forward and perennial MVP-candidate Kevin Durant took to Twitter (where he’s been on a bit of a hot streak lately) to make sure he gets his watch too:
KD’s certainly got some jokes this year… or maybe he just needs a new watch.
Either way, Durant certainly deserves some credit for contributing to all the spacing Curry had in his time in Golden State, just as much as Durant owes Curry for giving him the room to succeed out West. The ultimate death lineup, ran by Curry, Durant, Thompson, Green and Iguodala was probably the best 5-man lineup to play on the floor together ever.
Durant, as aforementioned, sits at 3rd amongst the most-frequent assisters of Curry’s triples. He stands at 153, with Iggy at 2nd with 168, Klay at 4th with 129, and Draymond the runaway #1 with 479. However, Durant’s also been enjoying some passing success in Brooklyn nowadays, seeming to have picked up on the infectious ball-sharing the Warriors are so well-known for.
Last time the Warriors and Nets played, it resulted in an 18-point win for the Dubs in Brooklyn. The teams match up next on January 29th at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Who knows, maybe that’s when we’ll get a small ceremony for KD to get a Rollie of his own?
