Under Armour set to retro Curry One sneakers
From not many college scholarship offers, to Davidson College, to getting drafted by the Warriors in 2009, and eventually, to NBA superstardom following a bevy of achievements and broken records, Stephen Curry will finally be releasing his first signature shoe retro very soon. A hallmark of some of basketball’s greats. Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are the first names to come to mind who have successfully retro’d their kicks.
Under Armour is set to bring back the popular Curry One with a tentative release date of November 11, according to SneakerNews.com.
After signing a sneaker deal with Under Armor in 2013, Curry’s first signature shoe, the Under Armour Curry One, debuted in 2015 while the now two-time MVP was smack dab in the middle of his first MVP season and championship run. Five years later in 2020, Curry Brand was formed. Still under the Under Armour umbrella but its own brand(Think Nike and Jordan Brand). And now, six years later, the Curry One is set to make its return to retailers just before the holidays. Although details are not yet confirmed, SneakerNews mentioned that we can potentially expect a heavy blue colorway.
It would be really cool to see the 2021 superstar version of Steph rocking the Curry One on the hardwood again during a big marquee matchup.
This news also leads one to wonder what shoe Under Armour or Curry Brand will retro next?
