Draymond Green To Commentate NBA All-Star Game
It looks like the Warriors will have a representative at this year’s All-Star game after all.
With Stephen Curry out over the break with a knee injury, he will not be able to take part in the All-Star festivities he was planned to join, including the game itself as a starter and the 3-point contest. With Jonathan Kuminga snubbed from the Rising Stars game, the only Warrior we’ll be seeing over the weekend is Draymond Green.
As mentioned here, Green will not be playing in the game itself, but will join the “Inside the NBA” crew as he has in the past to commentate on it. Green’s joined the “Inside” crew a few times before, during the 2020-2021 NBA Playoffs most notably after Golden State was knocked out in the play-in. He brings a unique insight to his analysis of the modern game that pretty much nobody else on the air can, so it’ll be interesting to see how he discusses the NBA’s All-Star Weekend.
Green appears to be headed for a broadcaster’s role after his playing career is over, as he’s been a surprisingly well-received analyst on TNT’s programming before. He even signed a multi-year contract as an active player to appear in some of the network’s programming, setting him up for a smooth transition when he does hang his jersey up.
Despite a lot of people having disdain for Dray on the court, he’s a high IQ player with undeniable knowledge around the game, which makes him a refreshing presence even for his detractors in a media space dominated by hot-take artists on most shows.
The chemistry that the “Inside” crew has developed with Draymond Green will be on full display during the All-Star Break, and yet again, the Warriors will maintain their streak of having a representative for the festivities, even if that representative is behind the desk instead of on the court.
