Steph Reacts to Will Smith's Slap at The Oscars

Sunday night's biggest headline was one that was far away from the hardwood court and friendly confines of Chase Center. Instead, it was The Oscars, where famed actor Will Smith, mid-show, got out of his chair and slapped Chris Rock for poking fun at his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair. The Fresh Prince’s actions set the internet on fire; from low-follower Twitter trolls to NBA superstars, everyone had something to say about the slap heard ‘round the world. Warriors perennial all-star and presumed Hall of Famer Steph Curry weighed in on the discussion, saying,

'Like everybody.. I'm still in shock about the whole thing- but in all the unnecessary drama, at least we got the line of the night from Denzel…" In your highest moments, be careful, that's when the devil comes for you!"

Curry also sprinkled a little humor into the mix when he responded to a Standford women's basketball tweet, saying,

"This was loud!!! Like that slap on that other channel"

Shamelessly, I've found great humor in all of the memes and tweets the internet has produced since Smiths' actions occurred. However, in all of the internet chaos, I think that assault is still assault. You don't fight words with violence. You fight words with words. The written word is and will always be more powerful than anything else. Hopefully, Smith will apologize, and the internet can all move on. Until then, it's time to gear up for what many believe could be a legitimate championship run for the Dubs, even in the midst of the team currently slumping. In the wise words of Kendrick Perkins, "Carry the Hell on…."
