Steph Picks Bengals to Win the Super Bowl
It’s a big day in the sports world. Of the four major sports in the US, none is quite celebrated like the Super Bowl: The fanfare, the ads/marketing, and of course, an opportunity to watch a high level of football. This year has the Los Angeles Rams, after defeating the San Francisco 49ers, facing off against the Bengals, who have made a franchise turnaround that’s been incredible to watch.
As great of a basketball player as he is, Steph Curry is still a football fan just like most of us. Although he roots mostly for his hometown Carolina Panthers, he’s obviously endorsed the Niners as they’re the only football franchise left in the Bay Area after the Raiders moved to Las Vegas. With this matchup looming, it looks like Steph’s got his pick, too:
“Joe Shiesty” refers to Joe Burrow, the Bengals quarterback who is in his 2nd season in the NFL and is about to be a starting quarterback in the Super Bowl. Burrow’s a pretty damn-good QB, as its usually his heroics which lead the team to victory. Burrow plays alongside college teammate and wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase.
While the Rams tend to be a more popular pick, the common sentiment around Bay Area sports fans in general is “Beat LA”. To see probably the biggest star in Bay Area sports rock with that same energy is encouraging for hometown fans, especially given that the Niners and Rams had a tough conference matchup to determine who would play Cincinnati in the championship, a matchup the Niners lost at the end of the game.
After beating the Lakers last night, it’s only fair that Curry backs the “Beat LA” slogan for the biggest championship event in sports.
