James Wiseman's social media post hints that he's potentially almost back to full health
Warriors’ second-year big man, James Wiseman, posted an image of himself on his Instagram page yesterday making a lateral move with a basketball in hand in what appears to be from a recent workout at Chase Center.
The fact that Wiseman is moving laterally is a good sign that he should be ready for the beginning of Warriors training camp, which is set to begin at the end of the month. This would actually keep Wiseman on pace for what the Warriors were hoping and anticipating for from the former number two overall pick. In July Steve Kerr was asked about Wiseman’s status. During an interview with Anthony Slater of the Athletic, Steve Kerr said he expects Wiseman to be ready for camp.
“He’s right on schedule for everything and, as of now, (the) medical team tells me he will be ready for camp,” Kerr said of Wiseman.
Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Nirav Pandya chimed in on Wiseman’s recovery on Twitter.
“Nice! At the nearly 4 month mark after meniscus surgery looks as if Wiseman is doing on-court drills with agility / running. Great sign and right on track (if not a little ahead). Bodes well for training camp and regular season.Hoping the knee responds well!”
Needless to say, having Wiseman ahead of schedule in his rehab should be music to the ears of Golden State fans across the globe. After not having a training camp in his rookie year and then slowly working his way back onto the court during the season, it would be ideal for the young center to have a full camp under his belt in order to get properly conditioned while also learning the system and building chemistry with his teammates.
Speaking of teammates, take a look at Klay’s hilarious comment left on Wiseman’s Instagram post in question. Klay’s never been one to shy away from a good old-fashioned funny IG comment. And this is no exception as the sharpshooter hilariously bags on Warriors player development coach, Chris DeMarco.
