Collison scrimmages with Stephen Curry and Warriors
The Warriors are still in need of another point guard on the roster.
Bob Myers mentioned it in a media availability session a few weeks ago and looking at the roster it would make sense that the Warriors could use another “ball-handling guard”, as Myers put it, especially in the event that Stephen Curry or Jordan Poole miss some time on the court.
Earlier in the week, Chris Haynes of Yahoo! Sports reported that the Golden State Warriors would bring retired point guard Darren Collison in for a workout.
Yesterday, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic, Collison was in the Warriors’ facility working out and scrimmaging with Curry, Poole, and the other members of the team. The plan is for Collison to again work out with the Warriors today.
Slaters says the two-day workout should give both Golden State and Collison an idea of whether or not each side feels like the fit is right. He also mentioned that the ideal situation for the Warriors, should they be interested in moving forward with Collison, would be for them to sign him to a guaranteed camp invite which would allow for the Dubs to keep the flexibility that they would prefer to have.
I would assume the fact that Collison is returning for another workout today is a sign that things may be heading in the direction of a potential pairing between the two camps, however, that’s obviously just speculation at this point.
