Kuminga seen working on handles and deep range shot at Warriors practice facility
The dedicated and usually successful hoopers are usually known as the “gym rats”. The guys who are always in a gym working on their craft, whether that be at a decent hour, in the early hours of the morning, or late at night. Warriors rookie, Jonathan Kuminga, seems like he falls into that gym rat category.
On Thursday night Kuminga’s trainer, John Davis III, posted a few clips on his Instagram story of the 2021 number seven overall draft pick, Kuminga, putting in work at Golden State’s practice facility.
Davis actually posted a photo from a little past noon of the practice facility, and then again late in the evening with some video footage of Kuminga working on his deep three-point jumper coming off-the-dribble, and also working on his handles with a two-ball dribble drill.
Davis captioned the video of Kuminga pulling up from deep with something all Warriors fans hope will come to fruition.
“Game winner, coming soon.”
The reports on Kuminga going into the draft were that the 18-year old Congolese baller was a very raw talent and that his game would need developing in order to really have success at the NBA level. In all fairness, those reports were not totally unfounded during the summer league as Kuminga showed brilliant flashes, but also showed some inconsistencies, specifically in his shooting.
To see the 6-8 forward constantly in the gym is a very good sign and one that I’m sure Joe Lacob and company are absolutely thrilled about.
We’re officially less than a month out from kicking off the preseason, which means training camp is also around the corner. It will be fun to get to see how Kuminga eventually fares on the floor at the same time with the likes of legends Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala.
