Warriors are betting favorites to land Ben Simmons in a trade
It’s no secret that Ben Simmons wants out of Philadelphia.
The 25-year-old point guard has reportedly let the 76ers organization know that he does not intend to report to training camp, according to Keith Pompey. Pompey said that Simmons’ preferred trade destinations are the “three California teams”, with one of those being Golden State.
On Tuesday, BetMGM sportsbook set their odds for the team to most likely land the lefty. Leading the league with the best odds to land Simmons are the Warriors, who are set as +300 favorites. The team with the second-best odds are the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are currently set at +400.
The fact that Golden State has the highest odds to land the three-time all-star isn’t totally shocking though. The two teams involved in this potential deal have reportedly been in communication. The last we heard from this communication was not too long ago when the Sixers set an astronomical asking price for their star player to which the Golden State front office quickly turned down.
Also, the Dubs have plenty of assets that bode well for a potential deal between the two teams which makes sense.
Recently, a report from NBC Sports Bay Area’s Monte Poole stated that there was a division within the Warriors front office regarding a potential pairing of Simmons with Draymond Green. However, you have to believe that Golden State brass would be able to see how adding a player of Simmons’ caliber could only help the team, and help them for a long time, as Simmons, at 25 years of age, has yet to come into his prime.
I still think there are a number of hurdles to clear for a trade that brings Simmons to the Warriors to happen, however, I would be the first to applaud if that deal were to happen.
