Warriors Give Update on Curry’s MCL Sprain, Will Be Re-evaluated in One Week

Just a few hours before the opening tip-off of the 2018 playoffs the Golden State Warriors gave an update on the status of Stephen Curry’s sprained MCL sprain.  After an examination from the team’s medical staff it was concluded that Curry has made steady functional progress and will soon intensify his on-court rehab.  They also mentioned that he will be re-evaluated in one week.

Curry was diagnosed with a grade 2 left MCL sprain on March 23rd after he injured his knee in a freak accident when Warriors center Javale McGee fell backwards and into the point guards knee causing it to hyperextend medially.  Curry has missed 10-games as a result of the injury.

On Friday Shams Charania of the Athletic reported that Curry was targeting a return date of sometime during the second round of the playoffs if the Warriors are able to get past the Spurs in the first round.

Warriors star Stephen Curry (sprained MCL) is targeting expected return at some point in the Western Conference semifinals, league sources told Yahoo. Curry has three-week evaluation on Saturday.

Curry has been seen at Warriors practice recently doing controlled lateral movement drills with Warriors head Performance Therapist, Chelsea Lane.  This is certainly a good sign as it shows that the next big step in Steph recovering from his injury would be going through full contact drills.

The Warriors play the Spurs in game 1 of the first round of the playoffs today at 12pm PT in Oakland.
