Ranking Every Warriors City Jersey From Worst to First

Renderings of every NBA team’s Nike City-edition jersey for the 2024-25 season leaked on Tuesday giving us a whole new batch of threads. Introduced during Nike’s inaugural season as uniform partners with the NBA in 2017-18, the league has released an alternate jersey for each team annually since, in hopes of connecting with the history of both the team and the city.

The initial launch of the uniforms was looked at as a success, producing a series of jerseys that immediately became hits. Over time the products have become stale, often recycling old jerseys in white or black colorways, and implementing untraditional colors that teams have never been associated with.

This season marks the eighth year of the City-edition jerseys, so it’s a good time to look back and rank all eight the Dubs have worn from worst to first.

8. 2024-25 - Golden Gate

Sadly for Warriors fans, Tuesday’s leaks were rather lackluster. The jerseys are navy blue, with gold lettering in the shape of a circle, eerily similar to their new black Statement-edition jersey that will also debut this year. The collar is striped with yellow, gold and red. The side of the jersey features red panels to pay homage to the Golden Gate Bridge. Warriors fans can hope they look better on the court, but as for now, they look like revamped Indiana Fever jerseys.

7. 2022-23 - Yellow Rose

Fresh off their 2022 championship, the Dubs unveiled a bold new City-edition jersey that featured a yellow rose on the chest, as well as a ginormous holographic yellow rose on the bottom of the jersey. Designed by Bay Area artist Allison Hueman, the jersey and marketing campaign was to celebrate women being at the “intersection of court, community and culture in the Bay Area.” Though the symbolism behind the uniform was unique and interesting the jerseys themselves were not fantastic, the big rose that often appeared when untucked was glaring and unappealing.

Notable Memories: Curry’s 36-point performance in OT win versus Milwaukee, win over the Grizzlies on Christmas, and Steph’s 50 ball in Phoenix.

6. 2018-19 - Chinese Herritage

The second edition of the City-edition jersey would not automatically be recalled as one of the most memorable jerseys in Warriors history. With the Dubs wearing the jersey on the court less than 10 times during the 2018-19 season. The faded blue color jersey, with “The Bay” and hanzi letters in yellow that read “prosperity,” is more synonymous with one notorious game than anything else.

Golden State debuted these jerseys in Los Angeles against the Clippers, on the night looked at as the beginning of the end of the KD era in The Bay. With Draymond Green and Kevin Durant infamously getting into their season-altering argument on the bench between the fourth quarter and overtime of a 121-116 loss.

Notable Memories: Draymond Green-Kevin Durant's argument on the bench, Klay Thompson's game-winner against Sacramento at Oracle.

5. 2019-20 - The Town 2.0

Not to be mistaken with the Warriors Statement-edition jerseys the team wore from 2017-2019, these altered versions of the original “The Town” jerseys just weren’t the same. Contrary to the slate-color jerseys worn during the final two seasons at Oracle Arena, this version was solid black and featured a blue collar unlike the previous one with yellow.

These jerseys were worn during the abysmal COVID-19-shortened season, in which the Warriors were the worst team in the league. Yet they managed to beat the James Harden-Russell Westbrook-led Houston Rockets on Christmas day at Chase Center in the most memorable game of the year.

Notable Memories: Dubs upset the Rockets on Christmas, D’Angelo Russell forces OT versus the Knicks.

4. 2023-24 - Cable Car

Worn last season, the Dubs dawned the black jerseys with parallel yellow lines on the side to mimic the iconic San Francisco cable cars. The jersey also featured “San Francisco” across the chest in a peculiar fashion to showcase the hills of the city.

Notable Memories: Curry puts the Celtics to bed at Chase Center, Steph’s game-winner versus the KD and the Suns in primetime, and Gary Payton II’s block on Wembanyama.

3. 2017-18 Chinese New Year

The inaugural City-edition jerseys were done just right. These bright yellow jerseys featured the Golden Gate Bridge, with the face of a dragon in a teal/light blue color. The side of the jersey featured red and blue piping.

Notable Memories: Kevin Durant goes for 32 in a win against his former team on Saturday primetime on ABC.

2. 2020-21 We Believe/Oakland

One of the best Warriors jerseys in franchise history. These jerseys were the first ever to have the name “Oakland” across the chest, as well as on the court. Paying homage to the city the Dubs called home for 47 years. The style is reminiscent to “We Believe” jerseys the Warriors wore during the early 2000s. Steph Curry finished third in MVP voting this season, after missing practically the entire season prior.

Notable Memories: Warriors big comeback versus reigning Eastern Confrence champion Miami Heat, Curry-Lebron inaugural play-in game battle

1. 2021-22 - 75th Anniversary

My personal favorite Warriors jersey of all-time comes in at No. 1, the Dubs wore this on their way to their seventh NBA championship and fourth apart of the Curry dynasty. The black uniform featued the yellow Bay Bridge logo with lightning bolts on the sides, along with a 75th anniversary logo on the shorts. The clean look mixed with the nostalgic memories of the 2021-22 NBA season that saw Klay Thompson return to action after two career threatening injuries capped off with an NBA championship, make this one my clear-cut favorite.

Notable Memories: Though there were many to chose from, Curry’s best game of his NBA career came in these uniforms during Game 4 of the 2022 NBA Finals. With the Warriors on the road in Boston down 2-1, Golden State was in desperate need of a win to avoid a 3-1 deficit. Curry delivered dropping 43 to tie the series in a masterful performance as the series shifted back to the Bay. The Dubs went on to win games five and six to secure the title, along with Curry taking home his first Finals MVP trophy.
