Warriors fall to the Wolves in Minnesota behind uninspiring defensive effort

Wow. That was tough to watch. Tuesday night in Minnesota, the Dubs put up an absolutely abysmal performance in a 15 point loss that quite honestly was never really even that close. Curry led the team in scoring with 34 points to go along with an excellent 3rd quarter where he managed to score 16 of his 34.

As Dubs fans know, Curry was not the problem; the team defensive effort Tuesday night was one of the worst I believe we have seen this season. One glance at the box score further emphasizes this point. Karl Anthony Towns was dominant, D'Lo was crafty, and many of the Timberwolves role players stepped up to the challenge, which inevitably led to the Warriors’ demise.

First, looking at KAT’s monster performance, it was abundantly clear just how badly the Warriors need a second option behind looney. Wiseman should help with this but is still likely at least a few weeks away from his season debut. Additionally, the Warriors desperately need Draymond Green back in more ways than one. They had no defensive intensity Tuesday, where Dray usually finds his niche. All in all, Tuesday night was encompassed by an abysmal defensive performance and a severe lack of energy.

Golden State has played two pretty tough-to-watch games against Dallas and now against Minnesota. Luckily(hopefully) for the Warriors, their next contest will be in Dallas and provide a ripe opportunity for a revenge game and the ability to get back to playing the vintage Warriors basketball that we were accustomed to seeing early in the season.
