Warriors to Handle Draymond Green's Punishment Internally

The Warriors addressed yesterday’s Draymond Green and Jordan Poole altercation from yesterday’s practice during their media availability today. From Bob Myers’ initial address, the organization is going to look into potential punishments or resolutions “internally”:

Myers wasn’t keen on too many of the details of the issue other than the expected answers that the team aims to move forward from the incident. When asked about Draymond currently missing time, the Warriors GM said that the team doesn’t expect him to miss any games as a result, meaning a suspension is an unlikely resolution. Myers also mentioned that Green has apologized to the whole team, and that there were no ensuing injuries from the escalated altercation.

After Myers spoke, Steve Kerr addressed the media with some better details about the situation. He made it a point to say that the rumors initially reported about Jordan Poole’s attitude in training camp were highly exaggerated and “couldn’t be further from the truth”. He also mentioned that Draymond was not at practice today nor will he be tomorrow, and that the team expects him back later in the weekend.

It seems the organization will handle the rest of the issue privately and professionally, and it shouldn’t impact the Warriors moving forward once it’s all sorted out shortly. During Myers’ conference time, he made a point to mention that there was no indication the outburst and ensuing escalation were the result of contract extension discussions between the teammates, and that instead it was an unfortunate situation where an error in judgement was made by Green.

Given Dray’s history of vocal leadership and past altercations with teammates (which have all been swiftly resolved), it can be expected that we won’t be hearing much more about this from here on out. The team will decide what to set up as punitive action, although it doesn’t seem drastic enough to affect the locker room. As of now, the team looks poised to continue in training camp and to keep up the work they’ve been doing in anticipation of another deep run.
