Warriors center James Wiseman is entering an important second season with Golden State, one with raised expectations for the larger team as a whole. After a promising rookie season that was hindered by a lack of summer league, a quick training camp, and unfortunate injuries, Wiseman will be a vital part of Golden State’s success this coming year.

As is duly noted, success in the NBA is not only attributable to preparing oneself on the court, but ensuring there’s work-life balance off the court as well. It’s not uncommon to find NBA players have hobbies aside from hoop, and it can be particularly beneficial for young players beginning their professional careers.

For James Wiseman, he may have found a new hobby as of late, and it just so happens to give back in a positive way as well.

Per a report from NBC Sports Bay Area, Wiseman recently visited San Francisco Animal Care and Control and adopted a pair of kittens. Wiseman was reportedly looking to adopt and didn’t need to look far for recommendations: Warriors guard Jordan Poole helped direct him towards SF Animal Care and Control after adopting a pair of kittens from the shelter himself a few years back.

It’s hard to argue with Poole’s recommendation, after all the third-year guard had a stellar second half of the 2020-2021 season following his play in the G-League bubble. Poole’s play resulted in Golden State’s push to the play-in, and cemented himself as part of the growing foundation for the Warriors’ future.

Now, was that all a result of the kittens by his side? Maybe not, but by all means they couldn’t have hampered his play on the court, so the same should be said for Wiseman. If anything, both Wiseman and Poole’s kittens should immediately be inducted into Warriors lore, with the likes of Klay Thompson and Rocco.
