Warriors' odds to win championship next season surprisingly high according to sportsbook

There is a lot to be hopeful for this season if you’re a Golden State Warriors fan. Stephen Curry signing a huge extension that locks the superstar up with the franchise that drafted him until the 2025-2026 season, Klay Thompson’s eventual return from injury, Andre Iguodala returning home, draft picks, free agent acquisitions, the list can go on. However, given the explosion of superteams in the NBA, many fans are left wondering if the Warriors have a roster that can contend. Well, oddsmakers are saying that Golden State’s chances are pretty good.

Bovada, a popular online sportsbook based out of Costa Rica has given the Warriors +900 odds to win the 2021-2022 NBA Championship. Those odds place Golden State as the fourth most likely team to hoist the Larry O’Brien trophy next year. Pretty surprising if you’re gauging the overall public sentiment about the team over the last few months.

Other sportsbooks have the moneyline odds set a little higher than Bovada’s but most still have the Warriors listed as the fourth highest likelihood of winning it all next year.

The fact of the matter is that if things do go closely to how the Warriors front office intends in regards to staying healthy and certain players developing towards their potential (Wiseman and Poole), then even on paper, the Warriors look like they have a strong squad that will be able to contend. A Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and James Wiseman lineup sounds pretty deadly if you ask me.

A further look at Bovada’s NBA futures shows that Golden State has the second-highest likelihood of winning the Western Conference Championship next season. Second to the Los Angeles Lakers, and preceding the Los Angeles Clipper and Phoenix Suns, respectively.

It’s safe to say that Las Vegas is high on the Warriors coming into the 2021-2022 season, and in all honesty, why wouldn’t they be? There will always be a level of comfort for me when two-time MVP, Steph Curry, is the direction I push my chips toward.

On a side note, for all you degenerate gamblers out there who love finding something to wager on, Jordan Poole is listed on the Bovada site’s 2022 Most Improved Player props list. They have him down as a +6600 to win the award, which offers an incredible return on your initial investment. He isn’t that much of a long shot to win MIP. You’d know that if you were able to watch him towards the second half of last season and into the two play-in games.
