Curry’s historic NCAA Tournament run came in 2008 during his Sophomore Season at Davidson College under head coach Bob McKillop.

In the first round of the tournament the Wildcats were matched up with seventh-seeded Gonzaga. The Bulldogs led by 11 points early in the second half however number 30 poured in 30 points in the half to lead his team past the Zags. Curry would finish with 40 points while shooting a blazing eight of 10 from deep.

Steph’s second round victim would be the eighth overall ranked Georgetown Hoyas. Curry and Davidson were heavy underdogs and he was held to just five first half points as Davidson would trail by as many as 17. Once again, the Akron born point guard put his team on his back and rattled off 25 second half points rallying his Wildcats to a 74-70 comeback win.

Davidson would cruise passed Wisconsin in the third round as the now household name, Stephen Curry, tallied 33 points while advancing his team to the Elite 8.

Finally, the small liberal arts college in Davidson would fall, 57-59, to the number one overall ranked Kansas Jayhawks who would go on to eventually win the tournament. Curry scored 25 points in the game.

It’s very easy to see how this documentary based on Curry’s improbable run in the Big Dance and subsequent rise to fame will be an exciting and emotional underdog story on the big screen.

No release date has been announced yet but with Coogler, Curry and company it’s safe to say the project is in good hands.
