Another Setback for the Dubs With Kelly Oubre’s Injury

It seems that every time that the Warriors move one step forward and all is looking up in the world of Golden State basketball, another complication arises.

Kelly Oubre Jr. reportedly has a torn ligament in his left wrist and a fracture on the palm, according to Shams Charania of the Athletic. Oubre reaggravated his wrist on April 9th in the first matchup with the Wizards, missed 11 days and then returned for 5 games. He attempted to play through the injury during that span.

Oubre has the heart of a true Warrior. The fact he was playing through that injury with his dominant hand just shows how much he is devoted to this squad (at least this season). To go along with that, he was willing to give up his starting spot and come off the bench when he did return to the floor after the first complication with his wrist. That was an impactful role not only for him but the team as a whole. It was an extremely nice spark to have in the 2nd unit, especially in the games against the Nuggets and the second time around with the Wizards.

This really hurts the Dubs. For a team that needs a third reliable, game-in and game-out scorer behind Curry and Wiggins, someone else needs to step up on a consistent basis. Can it be Bazemore? Poole? The options are very limited, as you can see.

Oubre is an unrestricted free agent after this season and we don’t know if he will be coming back to Golden State. Is he willing to fully accept the bench role with the return of Klay Thompson coming soon?

A lot of questions need to be answered in the near future. Get well soon, Kelly. Dub Nation needs you back for the play-in tournament.
