Two Changes Kerr Needs to Make in the Second Half of the Season

The first half of the 2020-2021 season was a success, I don’t care what anyone says. This team didn’t have very high expectations and have surprised many fans/analysts. Now, it’s time for this team to use that as momentum and exceed expectations even more in the second half of the season. The only way that’s going to happen if Kerr makes a couple changes in the rotation.

It has been discussed over and over again. It’s time to move Wanamaker out of the 2nd unit rotation at the point guard position. But who should replace him? If you want to pick someone already on the roster, it’s Jordan Poole. He proved he’s a legit offensive threat during his time in the G-League and in the last game before the All-Star break. The key for his success though is playing him on-ball. He gained experience during his time with Santa Cruz as a dominant point guard when the ball is in his hand and he creates his own offense. Need to see more from him and his development he obtained in the Orlando Gubble.

What about some free agent options? The Warriors need a bucket cause the 2nd unit has had stretches where they can’t seem to get anything going offensively. Jamal Crawford and Isaiah Thomas don’t have a home right now. Just saying. Thomas averaged 14 points in about 21 minutes during his two-game stint with the USA National Team during FIBA play. Take a shot on him. Low risk, high reward.

Another major change Kerr needs to make is to ramp up Wiseman’s minutes. You drafted this kid with the hope to develop him throughout his first year in the league and the only way you can do that is if he’s actually on the court. James should be playing 25-30 minutes a game, not under 20. Move him into the starting spot at the 5. We know who Looney is and he’s a backup big man for a playoff team in the league.

The fans are getting a bit restless when it comes to the #2 pick and are already thinking LaMelo Ball would’ve been a better selection which is absolutely ludicrous. He’s only played 26 games and is basically straight out of high school! It’s time to shut up those naysayers by plugging Wiseman back into the starting lineup and actually feed him the rock. He’s a massive human being and gets solid positioning down on the low block on numerous occasions but doesn’t get the ball. Reward the big fella!
