Draymond Jr. stole the show during latest Warriors win

Monday night at Chase center was one to remember. Not only because it was Steph’s first night back in the building after breaking the three-point record, but also because it was Dubnations first real glimpse at DJ Green. Let me just say, the kid is awesome.

DJ, the son of Draymond, was on the sidelines helping out Eric Housen, the team's Director of team operations and long-time equipment manager. It was clear, DJ was going to make his presence felt from the opening tip-off, offering up high fives, and retrieving towels from players returning to the bench while also in the process of producing a few viral moments.

DJ’s dance moves much like his father's game, were electric, Dray had a triple-double and a season-high in points (16). I believe I speak for all of dub nation when I say, bring DJ back. If not for the entertainment value, for the fact that the Warriors boast a record of 1-0 with DJ on the sidelines.

One moment, that has been going viral on several social media platforms is when Draymond Jr. brought Klay a warmup shirt. Chiozza, who had just come off the floor was sitting next to Klay and was the presumed recipient of the warmup shirt, but instead, it was given to Klay. Klay, smiled, and thanked DJ for the kind gesture, and handed Chiozza the jersey.

After the game, many players were asked about DJ being around the team and on the bench. In weeks prior we have seen videos of DJ getting dribbling lessons from Bruce Fraser and being involved with the team at practice. Once again, awesome. Damion Lee offered some great perspective on the significance of DJs courtside appearance saying,

“He turns five on Wednesday, When he is 15, he still won't realize the magnitude of what he was doing when his Dad and they were at the height of their run….. Being around Steph, being around Klay.”

Lee also added,

“Being in this atmosphere, that's only gonna want him to be the best at whatever he does because he is around the best every single day.”

High praise for the soon-to-be five-year-old. DJ’s appearance on the sideline Monday night is symbolic in many ways, Symbolic in the fact that the Warriors have tried to cultivate a family-like atmosphere within the fabric of their teams. What better way than to have family around the team. As the season continues, memories like these, are truly special not only for the team but for the fans as well. Hopefully, we can continue to make memories together and once again all feel the satisfaction of an NBA championship, a shared experience between the players and the fans.
