Rest vs Rust, Dubs stars targeting possible night off in the coming games

The Warriors are currently in the midst of a 5 game road trip that has been grueling not only on the players but the coaches and travel staff. On top of all that comes with traveling on the road; late-night flights, very little sleep, and the inability to play in front of a home crowd. Also, the Dubs endured mechanical issues with their plane late Tuesday night after their win against Indiana that prevented them from even leaving for NYC until early Wednesday morning. It was truly remarkable they were able to play so well down the stretch against the Knicks and a testament to just how good this team really is.

Luckily, Wednesday night, Curry was able to eclipse the all-time three-point record and finally able to get the metaphorical monkey off of his back. Leading up to that game at MSG, it became apparent that the chase for this record was not only weighing on him but his teammates as well. Draymond, at practice Thursday commented on the lead-up to the record.

“I can only imagine how much pressure was on Steph each shot because I started feeling the pressure when he was shooting”

Now that the record has been broken, it is apparent that the Golden State stars need some much-needed and well-deserved rest. However, when Kerr was asked about the thought of possibly resting Dray and Curry plus others against Toronto, he didn’t have a definitive answer.

“We have some thoughts, but we haven't made any decisions yet”, Kerr said on the matter.

Concise delivery from the newly minted Team USA basketball coach. Whether or not Kerr believes the Dubs star players deserve the night off against Toronto the analytics speak for themselves. This year alone, Curry is averaging 34.3 minutes a game, while Dray is averaging 30.3. Additionally, they are both playing more on the road, Curry playing 34.6 and Dray playing 31.0.

When Dray was asked about the Toronto game this Saturday, his answer left some room for interpretation.

“I’m playing tomorrow and we will go from there”

With all the speculation of rest against Toronto, it is fair to assume that the Dubs will more than likely rest Dray and Curry Saturday in Toronto. That is, of course, if they take care of business during their primetime bout with the Celtics Friday night in Boston. All things considered, the NBA season is long and very physically demanding on bodies and with some rest for Curry and Dray, it would also allow the coaching staff and front office to gain a better perspective on some of the Warriors’ young role players like Kuminga, Moody, and Poole.

Ideally, we see a healthy and rested Warriors team when they return home to the bay for a brief homestand against Sacramento and Memphis.
