Latest Forbes Report Has Golden State Warriors Valued At A Whopping $4.3B

NEW JERSEY--  The Warriors are now worth $4.3 billion, the third-most in the National Basketball Association right behind the New York Knicks ($4.6 billion) and Los Angeles Lakers ($4.4 billion), according to Forbes valuations.

Forbes released their valuations Tuesday, mapping out the business of each team. In February of 2019, Golden State came in at $3.5 billion, meaning their value increased by $800 million over the course of a single year. Their 23-percent rise over one year is second to just the Toronto Raptors, who have risen 25 percent to $2.1 billion.

In their valuation, Forbes said:

After five straight trips to the NBA Finals (and three titles), the Warriors are on pace for their worst season in two decades on the court after injuries to stars Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. But it will be a record year off the court for Golden State with the opening of the team's $1.6 billion, privately financed arena, the Chase Center, in September. The building is a cash cow with 32 courtside luxury suites that range from $1.3 million to $2.25 million per year; 44 mid-level suites average $1 million apiece; and 60 theater boxes cost up to $525,000 per year. All of the premium inventory is sold out as the team secured $2 billion in contractually obligated income ahead of the building opening. Chase was the biggest catch with roughly $300 million over 20 years allocated for naming rights to the building. The value of the Warriors is up 1,000% over the past decade. The Warriors also had the league's highest average local television rating during 2018-19, posting an average of 7.42 on NBC Sports Bay Area.

Currently, Golden State has the worst record in the NBA this season at 12-42. But there are always other ways to get a tally in the win column, and it’s safe to say Joe Lacob, Peter Guber and the rest of their ownership group are feeling that W spiritually-- considering when they made the sound investment in November 2010, when at the time the Warriors were worth $450 million.

With that number in mind, the Warriors' valuation has spiked by well over 1,000 percent in the past decade.

The Warriors may be in a funk on the court, but the winnings are definitely still coming off the court.
