Here's To Joe Lacob, Peter Guber and Bob Myers: We Appreciate You
With all the insanity coursing through the NBA the last few days, let’s take a second to appreciate once again how lucky the Bay Area and Golden State Warriors fans are.
So many franchises, even when they hit the lottery with draft picks like Kawhi Leonard and Kristaps Porzingis, have such a hard time keeping them happy and capitalizing on their other-worldly talent.
And then there are the Warriors, who not only hit on more draft picks in a four-year span than they have in their entire franchise's history – Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green – but were able to keep them happy and turn those picks and solid free agent signings into championships and an extended run of excellence.
And not only that but finding guys with great character who have bought into a culture and added to it to the extent that it attracts other great players like moths to a light.
Its one thing to get lucky on a draft pick; it's another thing to turn that into wins, culture, and championships.
And with all of the drama in the league today and what seems like every day, let’s be thankful that the Warriors have been a light of consistency over the last five years.
Because they were as dysfunctional as any organization in pro sports for the 30-plus years prior.
Here’s to Joe Lacob, Peter Guber and Bob Myers, because at the end of the day, an organization is only as good as its front office wants them to be, and they clearly settle for nothing less than championships.
