Patrick McCaw Clears Vince Carter of Any Wrongdoing and Is On The Mend

After suffering a seemingly horrific injury last Saturday against the Sacramento Kings at the Golden 1 Center, Warriors Guard Patrick McCaw has been medically cleared of any structural damage or broken bones and is luckily on the mend.

It all happened as McCaw was going up toward the rim for a layup attempt when Sacramento’s Vince Carter nudged him with his shoulder while the second year player was still airborne.  McCaw’s body essentially turned upside down while in mid-air and he slammed down flat on his back against the hardwood court.  McCaw was immediately writhing in pain and screaming.  After the play camera’s picked up audio of Warriors head coach Steve Kerr yelling out “God damn it! I’m not mad at you, I’m mad at Vince.  He should know better”.  It was a very questionable play by the 41-year old veteran who was once a high flyer himself and who knows all too well that you don’t hit an airborne players legs as that can surely cause a career ending injury.  However, in Carter’s defense he was visibly distraught by what had transpired.  You could see the remorse he had via watery eyes and a dismal look on his face as the paramedics were strapping McCaw onto a stretcher.  Carter would apologize to Warriors players and staff during and following the game for the incident.  It seemed as though it was simply an honest error on Carter’s end which shouldn’t have happened but did.

Later that night it was explained that McCaw had numbness in his legs upon impact with the ground.  The next day word came out that he was feeling better and that the numbness in his legs was temporary.  The Warriors are calling the injury a spinal bone contusion.

Today, McCaw took to his twitter account with a message:

Clearly there is no hard feelings from Patrick McCaw toward Vince Carter and it certainly seems that McCaw is in good spirits while rehabbing from his injury.  No timetable has been set for McCaw’s return however it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw him back in action before the seasons end.
